There are many online universities offering their services these days, but the big question is, are they all the same? The answer is no.

Online education has been known to get a bad rep, but things have changed since the first online degree program made a debut all those years ago.

Studying under the umbrella of an accredited online university will offer you the certainty that you’re getting quality education, on-par with what traditional colleges are offering.

But keep in mind that this sentence only applies to an accredited online university. Despite best efforts, some online universities activating today not accredited. They usually lure in students with the promise of smaller fees or shorter programs, but if looks too good to be true it probably is, and you should run.

Accredited online universities are usually very transparent about their accredited status, so if you can’t access this information easily, it’s time to think twice about enrolling at that institution.

Another indication that a college is accredited is that they offer scholarships. If your degree program provider doesn’t, this might be a red flag in itself.

Given that your future depends on which online college you choose; we recommend you proceed with the best of care.

One last warning, about non-accredited schools. Being enrolled with one will actually cut your chances at getting funding from external sources. You see the majority of scholarship programs are looking for students of accredited universities to fund, and they make that clear in the scholarship description.

Here’s an example. Check out the Betty Stevens-Frecknall Scholarship. The grant is open to students who have declared a computer/IT major at an accredited institution in the United States. Candidates need to be pursuing an undergraduate program.
